Our Director

Kathy Robitaille, directs both the Nor'easters Barbershop Chorus and the FairWinds Mixed Barbershop Choruses. Kathy started directing the Nor'easters in December of 2010. The current director had to move back to Canada quickly, so she agreed to fill in until they could find a permanent director....and she's still here in 2023!  

Kathy has a B.S degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine. She has directed many choruses over the years from childrens to adults, community choral groups and church choirs. She has been a barbershop director since she started directing the Camden, Me Windjammer chorus in 1999 to 2014. She started with the Nor'easters in 2010, directing both the Windjammers and the Nor'easters. Then directed both the Waterville Kennebec Valley Chordsmen and the Nor'easters from 2016-2019, while the Chordsmen's director finished up his master's degree. PHEW!!! 

Barbershop has been her life since 1999 and it was one of the most fulfilling ventures, says she, of which she has ever participated. The camaraderie in barbershop groups surpasses any other groups she has worked with and is grateful to be Director of both the Nor'easters and FairWinds currently. As if this isn't enough, she is the Music Director for Water of Life Lutheran Church Choir, accompanies the services on piano and is also a tenor for the Windjammer Barbershop QT, in which she gets to sing with her husband Ray!
