What We Do

What is Barber shop?

Barber shop is a distinct form of choral music that is sung A cappella (without instrumental accompaniment) broken into four voice parts: bass, baritone, lead, and tenor. Unlike traditional choral music where the highest voice part sings the melody, in barber shop music the second highest voice part, the lead, sings the melody. This allows for two lower harmonies from the bass and baritone and a high harmony above from the tenor.
